| DECLARATION OF CONSENT |
| The Declaration of Consent is a very traditional component, wherein the Bride's father would "give" the bride to her new husband. It is an important element to include in your ceremony, as it gives your escort a concrete moment when he/she can present the Bride to the Groom. This helps to eliminate any awkward moments or confusion. "I do" or Her monther and I do" are the most common replies to the officiant's Declaration of Consent, but you can even have your parents, wedding party, or guests in attendance reply "We do." |
Who has guided this woman throughout her life, nurtured her and loved her, cherished her and taught her to soar on her own wings, and who now guides her here today as she comes to join with another in marriage? Who brings this woman to join with this man in marriage? Who is it that brings this woman to this man on their wedding day? Who brings BRIDE to stand beside GROOM today? Will all the family and friends that are witnesses her today promise to guide and support and love and cherish this couple? Who gives this woman to be the bride of this man? Who gives their blessings to this union? I would now like to ask all those who are gathered here and stand behind this man and this woman on this wonderful day…. Who supports this marriage? As GROOM and BRIDE's parents, you have come here today to witness the exchange of vows that will represent BRIDE and GROOM’s eternal commitment to one another. I would now ask PARENTS … who supports this marriage?
